Welcome to Eco Trip Advisor
The American system of national parks was the first of its kind in the world, and provides a living model for
other nations wishing to establish and manage their own protected areas. The park service actively consults with
these Nations, sharing what we've learned, and gaining knowlege from the experience of others.
Beyond national parks, the National Park Service helps communities across America preserve and enhance important
local heritage and close-to-home recreational opportunities. Grants and assistance are offered to register, record
and save historic places; create community parks and local recreation facilities; conserve rivers and streams,
and develop trails and greenways. (nps.gov)
The International Ecotourism Society defines ecotourism as, “responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment and improves the well-being of local people.” Today, more travelers are sensitive to the impact of tourism on nature and the environment. For some, that can mean simply choosing environmentally and socially responsible travel providers. Recognizing the enormous task involved in identifying such businesses, Eco Trip Advisor (ETA) was developed to make it easier for environmentally responsible travelers to find equally responsible lodging & tour providers.
Specializing in EcotourismSave time researching your next vacation.Environmentally responsible travelers are now free to concentrate more on their trip and less on its ecological impact. All listings on ETA are eco-friendly! Lodging providers & tour operators are pre-screened for you.To be listed here, both must embrace an eco-friendly environmental policy. Some subscribe to policies set by 3rd-party organizations, others have their own in-house policy. Either way, rest assured that only those who've made eco-conscious commitments (as you have) will find a place on this site. ETA's goal is to promote environmentally responsible travel and assist travelers interested in ecotourism. While I hope some day to offer clients real-time on-site booking, I know that travelers need more (see this NY Times article). As a home-based travel consultant with International Tours and Cruises, you receive my personal attention when you book through ETA. And my access to unbiased inside travel industry information will often save you money. Booking a trip is as easy as 1-2-3
As a convenience to web site visitors, ETA now offers off-site booking for some lodging, tour and travel providers. However, the ease of instant off-site booking comes with a caveat. Caveat: booking off-siteWhen you leave EcoTripAdvisor.com to book directly with a lodging, tour or travel provider at their website, ETA is not responsible for bookings, correspondence, or negotiations made between you and the provider. As a result, I cannot assist in resolving any issues that may arise, nor address inaccuracies or misunderstandings you may encounter. In order to benefit from the personal service & attention my clients enjoy please contact ETA directly with your booking, so that I can book your trip via International Tours & Cruises. |
All of the lodgings - many of which are available as land/air packages, and tour operators we feature have established policies consistent with the theme of responsible travel. Our Eco Policies page provides you with guidelines for determining the commitment of lodging providers to eco-friendly practices. The Tours page lists tours whose operators have stated social or environmental policies.
I know that many travelers wonder... Why use a travel consultant at all with so much information available on the Internet? The answer is simple – personal service and, in many cases, booking with a travel consultant can save you money. Before you book your vacation anywhere else, fill out our quote request form. It's available via links on our Lodging and Tours pages and will cost you nothing but a few minutes of your time. Regardless of where you book your vacation, let the provider know you chose them because of their eco-friendly policy.
Your vacation can have positive benefits for yourself, your family, and the people and places you travel to. Opportunities for responsible travel and ecotourism span the globe. Eco Trip Advisor is a work in progress. As such, our destinations and tours will be periodically updated to reflect an ever changing market. So, stop back often. Better yet, bookmark us for easy access to our site. Don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions or requests for more information.
