Florida
Aventura Mall
South Florida's Largest Super Regional Mall, Aventura Mall, is South Florida's #1 shopping destination among
international visitors and is ranked the 10th largest top-producing mall in the country based on sales per
square foot by Women's Wear Daily. The expansion and repositioning of Aventura Mall doubled its size to 2.4
million square feet in 1997. In 2007, the mall will add a new 167,000-square foot Nordstrom and an additional
150,000-square-foot wing of new stores and restaurants.
Delray Beach
Delray Beach is located in southern Palm Beach County adjoining Boca Raton, and directly on the Atlantic Ocean.
The beaches of Delray are perfect for outdoor recreation and sunbathing. There are plenty of volleyball nets
along the beach, and a nature trail and boardwalk in Atlantic Dunes Park. For diving enthusiasts, be sure to
investigate the wreck of the SS Inchulva, a few hundred yards from shore. Delray also offers an abundance of
watersports and boating activities. Delray's beaches and parks are the ideal setting for outdoor rest and relaxation,
but the downtown area is the heart of the city. The paved brick sidewalks of Main Street, scenic vistas, decorative
lighting and miles of shops make Delray Beach's downtown a great source of community pride. Atlantic Avenue
is made for walking, browsing and soaking up the culture and scenic ambiance of Palm Beach County. Art and
Jazz nights on the Avenue feature free trolley service, live music, food and fun. The downtown offers a mix
of restaurants, shops, galleries and clothiers.
Key West
Only 90 miles from Cuba and 150 from Miami, Key West is truly the end of the line. Key West has become a place
where people escape from the rat race to join the race for the freest, the "funnest" and the most
flamboyant. What other place has more bars — along with more churches — per capita than anywhere
else in the country? If you prefer a more solitary vacation, you can spend your days dozing in a hammock between
two palms, and your nights listening to the gentle hum of insects and the far-away beat of a reggae band. Or,
if you're like most visitors, you'll take it easy during the day, enjoying the beach or Key West's shops and
attractions, and spend your nights partying in its bars and nightclubs, most of which are clustered along the
main strip of Duval Street. Whatever your choice, you'll find Key West is an island that never stops.
Marco Island
Marco Island is surely the closest thing to a Caribbean Island experience in the United States. Serenely tropical,
its beautiful white sand beach stretches for four miles along the Gulf of Mexico shoreline. Relax on the sun-kissed
shores and you're likely to glimpse the sleek antics of dolphins in the sparkling Gulf. Colorful seashells
are plentiful along the water's edge, offering irresistible souvenirs free for the taking. Anglers and nature
lovers find endless areas to explore and enjoy the beautiful and diverse natural environment. Fish for tarpon,
snook and redfish in the mangrove backcountry, or kayak between uninhabited islands and spot dolphin, manatee,
sea turtles and other wildlife. (visitflorida)
